Hard as it may be to believe in these days of infectious greed and sabres unsheathed, scientists have discovered that the small, brave act of co- operating with another person, of choosing trust over cynicism, generosity over selfishness, makes the brain light up with quiet joy. ...Being nice is good for your health. |

Last night I played a blank tape at full blast. The mime next door went nuts. |

| This Web Page contains photographs of Gravemarkers in Cemeteries in Parry Sound District, Northeastern Ontario, Canada. You may browse through the Pictures of the gravemarkers below, *OR*...use the search engine available on the Home page. | HowStuffWorks.Com: Have you ever looked inside a grandfather clock or a small mechanical alarm clock, seen all the gears and springs and thought, "Wow -- that's complicated!"? While clocks normally are fairly complicated, they do not have to be confusing or mysterious. In fact, as you learn how a clock works, you can see how clock designers faced and solved a number of interesting problems to create accurate timekeeping devices. "Great site folks, this page leads to clocks, try it if you have the time... time, get it? :-)" | |

| Common Snapping Turtle: As the name suggests, this is one turtle that commands respect. When disturbed, it does not hesitate to defend itself, but will strike with amazing speed and force. Because it is a large animal, its powerful jaws are capable of tearing flesh quite badly. Why doesn't the snapping turtle protect itself by simply hiding in its shell? For good reason; it simply cannot fit! "McMaster University has a neat site folks. Give it a try and you'll bookmark it for sure." | |
| "TheWildOnes.ORG: Here is an example of what they offer." The vampire bats (Desmodus rotundus) have a wingspan of about eight inches and a body about the size of an adult's thumb. If not for their diet, people would not pay much attention to these small bats. Vampire bats feed on the blood of large birds, cattle, horses, and pigs. However, they do not suck the blood of their "victims". Using their sharp teeth, the bats make tiny cuts in the skin of a sleeping animal. The bats' saliva contains a chemical that keeps the blood from clotting. The bats then lap up the blood that oozes from the wound. Another chemical in their saliva numbs the animal's skin and keeps them from waking up. "Notice how they say nothing about their ability to change into a man... what are they trying to hide?" | |
| Landscape with red leaves: This is my photo album of travel in which I chased 'red leave front line' for 3 months in last year. An excursion for viewing autumnal tints is one of the best leisure in Japan. We enjoy red leaves of maples or yellow leaves of gingkoes and another colorful leaves. The country of Japan is long, and leaves change its color sequencially from north to south in autumn. So we call that natural phenomena 'red leave front line' like a cold or warm front line in meteorology, or like 'cherry front line'. "Thought you might enjoy autumn in Japan... visit Kazuto Nakanishi home website and enjoy his photos. It's a beautiful world we live in." | |

The Chemistry of Autumn Colours: The range
and intensity of autumn colors is greatly influenced by the weather. Low
temperatures destroy chlorophyll, and if they stay above freezing, promote
the formation of anthocyanins. Bright sunshine also destroys chlorophyll
and enhances anthocyanin production. Dry weather, by increasing sugar
concentration in sap, also increases the amount of anthocyanin. So the
brightest autumn colors are produced when dry, sunny days are followed by
cool, dry nights. "This site explains the colour
change in leaves. To simplify it here is their formula that makes it work= x CO2 + y H2O ----> x O2 + Cx(H2O)y with 'light' above the arrow and 'chlorophyll' below the arrow. So, are we impressed yet?" |

Holidays.Net: Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
are the most important of all Jewish Holidays and the only holidays that
are purely religious, as they are not related to any historical or natural
event. Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is celebrated the first and second days of Tishri. It is a time of family gatherings, special meals and sweet tasting foods. Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the most solemn day of the Jewish year and is observed on the tenth day of Tishri. It is a day of fasting, reflection and prayers. "Rosh Hashanah is on Sept. 7th and Yom Kippur is on Sept. 16th. Happy Holydays, folks." |

| Exploring Leonardo: Who was Leonardo da Vinci? He had a keen eye and quick mind that led him to make important scientific discoveries, yet he never published his ideas. Each object in the palace has significance, representing some aspect of wisdom or reminding the meditator of some guiding principle. Tradition dictates the shapes, sizes and colors of these objects. | The History of Ice Cream: Ice cream probably evolved from chilled wines and other beverages. Around 3,000 years go, the Emperors of China are believed to have enjoyed frozen delicacies made from snow and ice flavoured with fruit, wine and honey. In the 4th Century B.C., Alexander the Great is said to have been fond of iced beverages, and by 62 A.D., the Roman Emperor Nero is recorded to have sent fleets of slaves to the Apennine mountains to collect snow and ice to be flavoured with nectar, fruit pulp and honey. "We really must stop taking our everyday things for granted. Let's begin with studying ice cream. Hmmm, lovely subject and just in time for winter. Don't laugh, Christmas is less then four months away." | |
